  • 8 slices bread preferably stale
  • 1 cup grated cheese cheddar or your choice
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ cup white wine
  • 4 eggs beaten
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish.
  3. Layer the bread slices in the baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the grated cheese over the bread.
  5. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the milk, white wine, beaten eggs, salt, and black pepper.
  6. Pour the mixture evenly over the bread and cheese.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes or until the strata is set and golden brown.
  8. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
