Ingredients

  • 2 cups grits quick-cooking
  • 4 cups water
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese shredded
  • 1 cup milk
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 eggs beaten
  • ½ cup butter melted

Instructions 

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring water to a boil. Add salt and grits, stirring constantly. Cook until thickened, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in cheese, milk, and butter until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs and then slowly add them to the grits mixture, stirring constantly.
  5. Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the casserole is set.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.
