Ingredients 

Pancake Batter

  • 1 ½ cups All-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon Baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • 1 cup Buttermilk
  • 2 large Eggs
  • ¼ cup Unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon Red food coloring

Instructions 

  1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, whisk together the buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and red food coloring.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Heat a griddle or frying pan over medium heat and lightly grease it. Pour ¼ cup of batter for each pancake onto the griddle.
  5. Cook until bubbles form on the surface of the pancakes and the edges look set, about 2-3 minutes. Flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes or until cooked through.
  6. Serve warm with your favorite toppings.
