Ingredients

  • 4 medium Potatoes peeled and grated
  • 1 small Onion finely chopped
  • ¼ cup All-purpose flour
  • 1 large Egg beaten
  • to taste Salt
  • to taste Black pepper
  • ¼ cup Vegetable oil for frying

Instructions 

  1. 1. Peel and grate the potatoes. Place them in a bowl of cold water to remove excess starch.
  2. 2. Drain the potatoes and squeeze out any excess water using a clean kitchen towel.
  3. 3. In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, flour, beaten egg, salt, and pepper.
  4. 4. Heat the vegetable oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  5. 5. Scoop about ¼ cup of the potato mixture into the pan and flatten it with a spatula. Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  6. 6. Remove the hash browns from the pan and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
