Scone Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- ⅓ cup sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cold unsalted butter cut into small pieces
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1 large egg
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in the chocolate chips.
In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, heavy cream, and vanilla extract. Add to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead gently a few times. Pat into a circle about 1 inch thick and cut into 8 wedges.
Place the wedges on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until golden brown.
Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
