Kolache Dough
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- ½ cup warm milk
- ¼ cup sugar
- ¼ cup butter, melted
- 1 egg
- ½ teaspoon salt
Filling
- 8 sausages
- 1 cup shredded cheese
1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
2. In a mixing bowl, combine warm milk, yeast, and sugar. Let it sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
3. Add melted butter, egg, and salt to the yeast mixture. Gradually add flour and mix until a dough forms.
4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
5. Divide the dough into 8 equal pieces. Flatten each piece and wrap it around a sausage and some cheese. Pinch the edges to seal.
6. Place kolaches on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
